In the morning of November the 18th, a warm early winter day under a blue sky, Simon who is in charge of procurement for Siegfried Company visited us to discuss prices of products. In addition, he breezily recounted his impressions to Everlight Chemical in smile. Siegfried is located in Swiss, but most of its procurement personnel are from Germany. Those people are very polite in attitude and tone, yet very delicate and fine at their work, thoroughly meticulous and sort of a little “picky”. The impression of their gentle appearance and soft-spoken manner in the initial contact tend to mislead that "case will go very smoothly”, particularly for the procurement director who joined later. However, as to the requirements of product management (including quality and delivery), he is very insistent and rigid and does not compromise. Some of his ideas bring us love and hate mixed feelings.
Siegfried's business model aims for niche drug markets and conduct development, production and sales to their customers (pharmaceutical companies). With a good reputation, Siegfried's customers are mostly famous companies networked with drug stores and hospitals all over Europe. Working with Siegfried brings Everlight Chemical API to the European market. Therefore, Siegfried is not only an important customer, but also a strategic partner. After years of working together, pharmaceutical team and Simon have built understanding and trust. For this reason, Simon sticks to Everlight Chemical product. Taking the opportunity of issuing quarterly publication, we have interviewed him why he prefers to use Everlight Chemical product solely.
Q:On supplier, what are your demands and insists? Why did you choose Everlight Chemical?
Everlight Chemical is one of the best fitting suppliers for Siegfried. We do have a long lasting relationship which gradually evolved and you constantly delivered what you promised. We did choose Everlight Chemical because you provided the molecule we were looking for at that time. Very important to add, that you did not only provide the product but also the required service around it (e.g. documentation, information etc.)
Q: On supplier, what characters do you concern?
Actually there are three main elements: First, Reliability, covering the quality, the on-time deliveries, sticking to agreements etc. Under this title we also put our expectations on safety, environmental, health and social responsibilities which eventually lead to sustainability! These things are very important to us and we take this seriously. Second, we are looking for Flexibility. What we mean here, is the attitude and ability to react to a changing environment, such as changes in demand or changing specifications etc. The third element is your efficiency and competitiveness. In a growing competitive environment such as the generics drug market, there needs to be a strong focus on cost management. Summarizing all three elements, I would like to add that people matter! It is the people that make things happen, whether in management or in production or any other department. People contribute to your company's success or in other words contribute to customer's satisfaction by sticking to the values of responsibility, flexibility and cost consciousness. I guess this is a good place to thank you and every single employee of Everlight Chemical for all you have been done for us over the years.
Q: What characters make you believe that Everlight Chemical can be your longterm partner?
(Simon is smiling) This is an easy question! Just continue to provide the same good product and service! Ok, more seriously: I believe that there is a trust basis established which is not built on simple and blind trust but on consistent evidence and a certain transparency that Everlight Chemical was able to provide. Based on such strong foundation we would like to expand the business whenever there is a new opportunity!
